About
the programme:
The
workshop is aimed at any person who will benefit at skills in being
more assertive. It is a hands-on workshop and participants will use
personal examples, case studies, and role-plays to anchor the learning
and identify stumbling blocks and resources to being assertive. The
workshop is done in one day followed by a 90-minute feedback focus group.
The focus group will be held + 2-weeks after the workshop with the purpose
to assess whether participants could practice the skills taught.
The
workshop outcome:
On
completion of the workshop the participant should be able to practice
assertiveness skills.

outcomes of the workshop content:
The participant
will be able to attain the workshop outcome by being able to:

Know
his/her individual assertiveness style

Know
the steps of assertiveness

Know
when to be assertive and when not

Use
assertiveness skills to deal with difficult situations

Use
assertiveness skills to deal with criticism, confrontation, and other
negative emotions

Use
body language as an assertiveness skill

Use
positive and persuasive communication to be more assertive

Apply
boundary management techniques of time, task, space, and authority
to be more assertive.
Training methodology:
Teaching
by example and experiential learning probably describes the training methodology
most accurately. Participants will be actively involved in the learning
through the use of simulation exercises and case studies.
As with all DCT training programmes, we strive to effect actual change
back at the workplace through effective and practical outcomes based training.
