About the programme:

The purpose of this programme is to sensitise managers to the broader context of managing human resources and their own specific role. Starting off with a general introduction of human resource management within the South African context and then moving to more detailed aspects, such as:

  • Applicable legislation (Labour relations act, Employment Equity act, Skills Development act, Basic Conditions of Employment act, etc)
  • Performance management systems
  • Labour Relations
  • Recruitment & Selection
  • Training & Development
  • Employee Assistance Programmes

Workshop outcome:

On completion of this programme the participant must understand the broader context of managing human resources as well as more specific aspects of the HR function.

Specific workshop outcomes:

Participants will achieve the workshop outcome by being able to:

  • Understand the HR Function
  • Comply to HR legislation within the HR management function
  • Design a Human Resource Strategy
  • Understand the process of Recruitment & Selection
  • Understand the Training & Development function
  • Understand the concept of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP)
  • Understand Performance Management
  • Understand the process, dimensions and legislation of Labour Relations

NQF Accreditation:

DCT Consulting is registered through the Services Seta with Decision Number 0263. The HR Management Programme is based on approved NQF Unit Standards and on completion of the programme a Certificate with Credits will be Issued.

Training methodology:

The methodology is based on interactive learning, i.e. learners will learn by doing. Furthermore learners will use examples from their own environments, thus ensuring that the learning is anchored at their workplace. Most of the interactive learning will take the form of simulated exercises and case studies where participants will demonstrate the skills taught.
As with all DCT training programmes, we strive to effect actual change back at the workplace through effective and practical outcomes based training.
