About
the programme:
The
Life Skills Programme is designed for participants who can benefit from
basic life skills such as:

Stress
Awareness
- Assertiveness
-
Handling
of conflict
-
Self
development
-
Financial
life skills
-
Communication
The workshop
outcome:
On
completion of the programme the participant should be able to apply these
life skills to his/her own personal life, and through doing so better
his/her living standards.
Specific
outcomes of the workshop content:
Participants
will achieve the workshop outcome by obtaining the competencies as set
out under the following headings:
- Stress
Awareness:
i. Understanding
the concept of stress
ii. Being able to deal with stress at work and at home.
- Assertiveness:
i. Know
his/her individual assertiveness style
ii. Understand the right to be assertive
iii. Know the steps of assertiveness
iv. Understand body language
v. Know when to be assertive and when not
- Handling
of conflict:
i. Know
his/her personal style of dealing with conflict
ii. Know how to save a relationship in conflict situations
iii. Implement the concept of first understanding before being understood
iv. Able to turn conflict situations into win/win
- Self
development:
i. Know
and understand him/her-self better
ii. Know how to develop his/her personality
iii. Improve his/her self image
iv. Define his/her personal boundaries
v. Apply positive and proactive thinking
vi. Implement the power of constant renewal
- Financial
life skills:
i. Work
effectively with your personal budget
ii. Understand the concepts of income and expenditure and apply these
concepts within your own personal life
iii. Getting and staying out of debt
iv. Understand the implications of borrowed money, higher purchase and
other forms of credit
v. Understand the power of saving and how much of income to save
vi. Design and adjustment of his/her personal budget for optimal effectiveness
- Communication:
i. Understand
the communication process
ii. Use body language effectively in communication
iii. Apply listening skills
iv. Achieve results through effective communication
Training methodology:
The
methodology is based on interactive learning, i.e. learners will learn
by doing. Furthermore learners will use examples from their own personal
lives, thus ensuring that the learning is anchored within personal experience.
As with all DCT training programmes, we strive to effect actual change
back at the workplace through effective and practical outcomes based training.
