About the programme:

The programme is aimed at any person who needs knowledge and skills in the field of problem solving and generating creativity and ideas within groups. Areas covered by this programme are as follows:

  • Creative problem solving techniques such as brain storming, brain sailing, six thinking hats, lateral thinking, convergent and divergent skills and other creative problem solving techniques.
  • Designing your own creative problem-solving process by incorporating the different techniques to suit a specific situation.
  • Facilitating the problem solving process.

The workshop outcome:

On completion of the programme participants should have the skills and knowledge to deal with work related problems in a creative way in order to insure effective solutions.

Specific outcomes of the workshop content:

Participants will achieve the workshop outcome by being able to:

  • Know and understand at least five different ways of facilitating creative problem solving within a group.
  • Use the knowledge and skills taught in this programme to design your own problem solving process.

Included:

  • All programme materials and hand-outs
  • Issuing of certificate with credits after completion of programme
  • Record keeping of all results for NQF purposes.

Training methodology:

The methodology is a combination of teaching and experiential learning. Participants will be taken trough various problem solving processes and have the chance to demonstrate how they will apply it.
Participants will be assessed during the program. The assessment will be a practical one where they have to design their own problem solving process, based on a case study, and demonstrate the facilitation thereof. For the purpose of this assessment the group will be divided in pairs of two.
As with all DCT training programmes, we strive to effect actual change back at the workplace through effective and practical outcomes based training.
